Think Pink
Pink has become a symbol of the Giro d’Italia but it is also universally recognised as the colour for breast cancer. There are over 1200 women diagnosed with cancer in Northern Ireland every year and with everything going pink for 3 days in May it is too good an opportunity to miss.
So whether you are a male or female, young or old, cyclist or spectator, school or college, multi-national business or local café/bar – you can get pink, get involved and get raising awareness and funds for your local breast cancer charity Pretty’n’Pink….here are a few ideas to get you started.
Pretty’n’Pink have balloons, t-shirts, buckets, leaflets and pens all available to anyone who wants to fundraiser for us and PINK IT UP.
Live or Work along the route ?
Make the moment memorable! If you are along the route make sure your locality is bedecked with buntings, balloons and ribbons.
Have a street party – encourage everyone to bring something along and ask everyone to make a donation to Pretty’n’PInk.
Dress up
Why not get together with your school, club or friends and become a living artwork. Encourage everyone to wear pink. Bring pink alive with dance, music or art by inspiring youth and community groups to get
involved. Make sure they are all well positioned to feature in as many photo and filming opportunities as possible!
Get Active
Get active – have a sponsored cycle around the grounds of your school with everyone dressed in pink or some cycle races. Either get sponsored or pay an entry fee.
If school sport’s day falls over the Giro d’italia what better way to celebrate than to pink it up.
For ladies (or men) who are brave enough what about a sponsored cycle in your brightest neon pink bra – now there is an event that would guarantee some coverage!!
Put on Some Entertainment
Think family fun! Find the jugglers, street performers, unicyclists, samba bands, dancers and musicians - basically anyone in your area that can perform and invite them all to put on a show in aid of Pretty’n’Pink. Northern Ireland has a host of carnival, circus and entertainment expertise just waiting to be asked to participate.
